I would, yes。 Rock Paper Scissors is a twisty, thrilling read which had me gripped from the start。 Feeney has done it again and produced another very compulsive novel where she successfully pulls the wool over her reader’s eyes。 And damn, she does it with such style! If you’re a fan of the psychological thriller you need to add Alice Feeney to your ‘must read’ list。 You won’t regret it! Deliciously devious and a proper page-turner。 Recommended。 。。。more

Adam and Amelia's marriage is on the rocks, so when (out of the blue) Amelia wins a weekend away in a converted chapel in Scotland she decides its make or break time。 They arrive in a snow storm and soon discover their weekend retreat isn't quite what they expected。The Chapel is definitely not somewhere I'd choose to stay。 Everything is covered in dust。 Doors that were locked suddenly open。 Its a really eerie place and Alice Feeney writes this so well it really does give you the chills。 The stor Adam and Amelia's marriage is on the rocks, so when (out of the blue) Amelia wins a weekend away in a converted chapel in Scotland she decides its make or break time。 They arrive in a snow storm and soon discover their weekend retreat isn't quite what they expected。The Chapel is definitely not somewhere I'd choose to stay。 Everything is covered in dust。 Doors that were locked suddenly open。 Its a really eerie place and Alice Feeney writes this so well it really does give you the chills。 The story is told from alternate POVs of Adam and Amelia and letters that are written to Adam each wedding anniversary。 I enjoyed the letters as they gave a deeper insight into the relationship and was a clever way to tell what's really going on。 In typical Alice Feeney style there are lots of twists that you just won't see coming。 You think you have a good grasp on what's happening then she smacks you with another twist that will leave you breathless。 I would recommend this book to people who love an eerie thriller that will keep you on your toes。 。。。more

I enjoyed the alternating POV's, and there were a few unexpected twists。 The setting was perfectly creepy for the plot。 There were a few places where things were a bit unrealistic and hard to believe, but this story kept me engaged overall。 Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy, but I wasn't required to leave a positive review。 I enjoyed the alternating POV's, and there were a few unexpected twists。 The setting was perfectly creepy for the plot。 There were a few places where things were a bit unrealistic and hard to believe, but this story kept me engaged overall。 Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy, but I wasn't required to leave a positive review。 。。。more

I had an absolute blast reading this book。 It took me all round the houses and back again via several dead ends and 180s along the way。 I spent a good part of the book thinking I had it all sorted and the rest of the time refining and changing my second guessing until I was so dizzy I just gave up and went with the flow。。。 making this, for me, a great psychological thriller。Adam and Amelia have won a weekend away。 A break they really do need as things have been a bit strained between them of lat I had an absolute blast reading this book。 It took me all round the houses and back again via several dead ends and 180s along the way。 I spent a good part of the book thinking I had it all sorted and the rest of the time refining and changing my second guessing until I was so dizzy I just gave up and went with the flow。。。 making this, for me, a great psychological thriller。Adam and Amelia have won a weekend away。 A break they really do need as things have been a bit strained between them of late。 It's all a bit make or break to be honest。 But as you would expect from a book of this genre, especially given what I have already said and things aren't quite what they seem at face value。 And that's all I am going to say about the plot as this really is one of those books where you really need to go in as blind as you can。。。 Characterisation is always good with this author and this book is no exception to that。 It's hard to say much more on this but within their roles, every character, and there aren't many, is excellently described and plays their parts with aplomb。 We hear alternately from both main characters and then there are letters interspersed throughout too。 I found this a very effective way of driving the plot forward。Pacing is perfect and follows the narrative throughout。 It's slower at the start as it sets it all up but, oh my days, when it really gets going。。。! Phew what a ride, especially when it starts to deliver shock after shock。 And。 That。 Ending。。。 Wicked!Ok, for full disclosure, there were a few things that I did irk me a tad。 A few little niggles but, to be honest, I was having so much fun with the rest of what I was reading that I was happy to take on for the team and accept things at the face value they were presented at and move on。 All in all a cracking addition to what is shaping up to being a very impressive back catalogue。 My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book。 。。。more

When I read the description of Rock Paper Scissors it immediately appealed。 The setting sounds like my idea of paradise, a remote location in the Scottish Highlands but obviously this trip is going to be anything but paradise for Adam and Amelia。Once I picked this one up, I did not put it down。 It was just such a page turner with all its twists and turns and an ending that I did not see coming。Thank you to NetGalley and HQ for my ARC。

I also loved the word of the day and year included in the letters (yes I'm a geek!)。Adam Wright suffered from Prosopagnosia, a form of face blindness, which both saddened and horrified me; imagine not being able to recognise faces, even the face of your wife! Despite feeling empathy for Adam over his neurological condition, I didn't like him at all! A screenwriter and a workaholic, Adam was cold and distant。 All of the characters were pretty unlikeable and untrustworthy to be honest! Except Bob the dog! I loved him!Alice Feeney described the remote chapel really well, with the cold dampness, the strange creaking noises and whispering, the lights going out。。 It was a creepy and chilling place。 The setting and the Scottish weather also added to the eerie feeling and sense of horror。 I definitely wouldn't want to stay there!Rock, paper, scissors is a timeless game I used to play as a child, and now my own children play it。 Mr and Mrs Wright used it to help them make decisions, and I'm not just talking about who is going to put the kettle on! The game made reoccurring appearances throughout the book, which I liked, and the final use of it was inspired! It horrified me, but also made me smile in an evil way!Although I enjoyed this book, I did find the middle part a little slow, and it took me a few days to get through that section, but also I am very busy, since it's the school holidays 🤷‍♀️It was suspenseful, and the tension built nicely。 The last part however was excellent, and I stayed up late to finish it! The main twist totally threw me! It shocked me, and made me question everything, so clever! I kept saying OMG to myself! The ending was unsettling in a good way and is worth all the stars! On another note, was it me, or did this book throw some shade on another book featuring Prosopagnosia? I haven't read any other books featuring this condition, so didn't know which book it referenced, but it definitely felt like some tea was being spilt there?!If you're looking for a book stuffed with lies, secrets, slow building tension, clever twists and manipulative characters, then definitely try this one! ❄❄❄❄Available 19th August 2021!Many thanks to NetGalley UK and HQ for the ARC, in exchange for an honest review! 。。。more

What a gripping, edge of your seat, psychological thriller。 The book is written from the points of view of husband and wife Adam and Amelie in alternating chapters。 I very much enjoy this way of writing as we get to know what the characters are thinking。We have interspersed throughout the book copies of an annual anniversary letter to Adam from his wife, giving an insight into the state of their deteriorating marriage each year。 It is obvious they are beginning to grow apart as the years pass。 T What a gripping, edge of your seat, psychological thriller。 The book is written from the points of view of husband and wife Adam and Amelie in alternating chapters。 I very much enjoy this way of writing as we get to know what the characters are thinking。We have interspersed throughout the book copies of an annual anniversary letter to Adam from his wife, giving an insight into the state of their deteriorating marriage each year。 It is obvious they are beginning to grow apart as the years pass。 These letters are written with the intention they will probably never be read by Adam。 We also have a third narrator, Robin, and we find out where she fits in to their lives towards the end of the book。 I did not see that coming at all! Adam is a screenwriter and has been trying to get his own novel, Rock, Paper, Scissors, made into a film for years。 He has a little known condition called prosopagnosia, or face blindness, which means he is unable to recognise anyone‘s face not even his own face in the mirror。 We join Adam, Amelie, and Bob their Labrador as they are driving through heavy snow to get to their weekend break in a chapel in Scotland, having ignored the weather warning。 Amelie won the first prize of the weekend away in a raffle where she works, Battersea dogs home, and they are both hoping a weekend away will help save their crumbling marriage。 They are running out of petrol and it is like driving in a white out with the windscreen wipers on Amelies old Morris Minor struggling to cope。 The chapel is locked when they eventually find it but having walked around it to try to find another entrance they return to find the doors unlocked。 The chapel is just as spooky as I’d hoped with locked doors hiding secrets and even a crypt。 Everywhere in the chapel seems to be covered in dust so it appears no one has stayed there in a long time。 There is no mobile phone signal so they are stranded without being able to call for help。 There is, however, that little cottage down the road with smoke coming out of the chimney。。。 I will not go into the storyline any further but hope that little taster of my review makes you want to run out and buy the book immediately。 。。。more

4。5⭐️ If you’ve read any Feeney book, you know there’s a big twist at the end。 So far, I’ve read all her novels。 The way she writes, you kind of just ride the ride and not even try to guess what happens, especially with this one because the whole book I was like “what is happening?!” Rock Paper Scissors was definitely a slow burn, but there was definitive creepiness throughout the whole book down to the last page。 Especially at the half way mark I needed to stop reading in the middle of the nigh 4。5⭐️ If you’ve read any Feeney book, you know there’s a big twist at the end。 So far, I’ve read all her novels。 The way she writes, you kind of just ride the ride and not even try to guess what happens, especially with this one because the whole book I was like “what is happening?!” Rock Paper Scissors was definitely a slow burn, but there was definitive creepiness throughout the whole book down to the last page。 Especially at the half way mark I needed to stop reading in the middle of the night because I got too scared。 At first, all the characters were unlikeable until about 80% when most things are revealed you start to cheer on at least one of main characters。 Can’t wait to see what others think of this novel, I know this one is the perfect Fall/winter spooky read! 3。5 stars。Rock Paper Scissors is one of those stories that make you want to go back to the beginning and question everything as soon as you finish reading the last page。 It is so twisty it almost made me dizzy with all the turns and reveals。 But it also made me wonder if there’s such thing as too many twists。 The quirky structure, with the words of the year; traditional anniversary symbols and names; and cute little pictures for every chapter, definitely added some charm, but I didn’t like the c 3。5 stars。Rock Paper Scissors is one of those stories that make you want to go back to the beginning and question everything as soon as you finish reading the last page。 It is so twisty it almost made me dizzy with all the turns and reveals。 But it also made me wonder if there’s such thing as too many twists。 The quirky structure, with the words of the year; traditional anniversary symbols and names; and cute little pictures for every chapter, definitely added some charm, but I didn’t like the contrived writing style, which was brimming with cringing similes and metaphors, sometimes several in one sentence。 The book is definitely readable and has the “WTF I just read?!” moment so I am sure it will appeal to many readers。 。。。more

What a book!! I loved His & Hers so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this and dare I say it, this is better than His & Hers! I didn't see them coming and was blown away! Feeney is a queen at making the reader see one thing and then she unveils something so surprising that we can't help but be in awe of how we did not see it coming。 The twists are not at all cliche and are so clever, I actually wish I could read this again without knowing what is going to happen。 So you have probably guessed it, huge fan of this book! I honestly love Feeney's style and am sad that we will likely have to wait another while before her next book。 A big thank you to Net Galley for letting me read it before it was published。 。。。more

I loved this creepy thriller。 Alice Feeney is a master storyteller。 She knows just how to introduce characters in a way that you aren't quite sure what you are getting into。 I loved how the characters were drawn out and developed。 I loved the slow pace of the middle of the story to keep you turning the papers。 A great read。 Highly recommend it。 Thank you to Flatiron Books and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this great summer thriller by a killer author who knocked it out of the p I loved this creepy thriller。 Alice Feeney is a master storyteller。 She knows just how to introduce characters in a way that you aren't quite sure what you are getting into。 I loved how the characters were drawn out and developed。 I loved the slow pace of the middle of the story to keep you turning the papers。 A great read。 Highly recommend it。 Thank you to Flatiron Books and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this great summer thriller by a killer author who knocked it out of the park。 。。。more

Rock, Paper, Scissors。 Alice Feeney。 3/5 🕯🗝Things have been wrong with Mr and Mrs Wright for a long time and a weekend away is supposed to be the perfect fix。 Adam is a workaholic screenwriter with face blindness, every year they’ve exchanged gifts based on traditions but this year may make or break the marriage。 Amelia thought she won this trip randomly but nothing is a coincidence, somebody is lying and not everybody gets to live happily ever after。 I loved Alice Feeneys I Know Who You Are and Rock, Paper, Scissors。 Alice Feeney。 3/5 🕯🗝Things have been wrong with Mr and Mrs Wright for a long time and a weekend away is supposed to be the perfect fix。 Adam is a workaholic screenwriter with face blindness, every year they’ve exchanged gifts based on traditions but this year may make or break the marriage。 Amelia thought she won this trip randomly but nothing is a coincidence, somebody is lying and not everybody gets to live happily ever after。 I loved Alice Feeneys I Know Who You Are and Sometimes I Lie, this new release however though I enjoyed I had the twist very quickly。 Nevertheless this book is an enjoyable atmospheric thrill offering with elements of the Gothic sewn in。 Told through different perspectives so you never quite know where you stand。 Alice Feeneys novels are being picked up for adaption and it is easy to see why, she gives a good thrill。 。。。more

I think that Alice Feeney should be renamed Queen of Unreliable Narrators, because she really is superb at leading the reader down the garden path, over the back gate, towards the side entrance and then turning you around twenty six times until you are so dizzy you haven’t got a clue what side is up and what side is down。If you haven’t read any of Alice’s books before then I would strongly recommend you do, but be aware that they should all come with a warning that your head will be well and tru I think that Alice Feeney should be renamed Queen of Unreliable Narrators, because she really is superb at leading the reader down the garden path, over the back gate, towards the side entrance and then turning you around twenty six times until you are so dizzy you haven’t got a clue what side is up and what side is down。If you haven’t read any of Alice’s books before then I would strongly recommend you do, but be aware that they should all come with a warning that your head will be well and truly messed with and you might suffer a book hangover for a while。Back to Rock Paper Scissors, this book is cleverly narrated by Mr & Mrs Wright, Adam and Amelia and also with letters written on each anniversary of their wedding for the past ten years。When Adam and Amelia win a weekend away in an isolated Scottish village, they both see this as an opportunity to sort out their troubled marriage, however when they arrive there someone is watching them closely and doesn’t want them to succeed。This is a very atmospheric and creepy novel which I found totally addictive and exciting。 With only three narrators I was utterly convinced I could work out who was unreliable and who was telling the truth, but as usual my amateur couch detective skills let me down very badly as I was completely blown away when the truth is slowly and cleverly revealed。Another enjoyable, twisty standalone novel which I would recommend。 。。。more
